Carrier Oil vs Essential Oil: What's the Difference?
By Team Soul Stories · 1 min read
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts — steam-distilled or cold-pressed — and they are almost never meant to touch skin undiluted.
Carrier oils are the gentle, nourishing base that 'carries' an essential oil safely onto skin: think jojoba, sweet almond, argan or fractionated coconut. They dilute the potency of an essential oil while adding their own nourishing benefits.
A simple rule of thumb: 2-3 drops of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil for adults, and always patch test first. Our Carrier Oils collection is designed to pair with any essential oil in the range.
